Joseph Gentempo

Director of Culinary

“Communicating through being creative” is how Joseph embodies the core values of Solera in his duties as Director of Culinary and Executive Chef. “I want residents and community members to know I’m listening to their requests and concerns. What I enjoy most is providing ‘wow’ moments as often as possible.”

A love of serving seniors began as a child, when his father was director of a senior living community. He remembers spending time with the residents, particularly one woman whose painting still hangs in his house. And when it came time to join Solera, the decision was easy for Joseph. “When I heard Adam Kaplan’s passion for taking care of the senior community as well as food and beverage, it really spoke to me.”

Joseph has 25 years of experience in hospitality and food service, and is a graduate of The University of Texas and the Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park. When he’s not wowing everyone with his culinary skills, Joseph and his family often volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Generation Service. He also enjoys might be playing basketball or gardening with his three daughters. He’s quite good at juggling. And he never misses watching the movie Groundhog Day when it’s on. Just ask family pets Snowcone, the chameleon and Cinnamon Roll, the hamster.
