Like many who choose to bring their talents to senior living, Ben was inspired by his grandmother—in particular, her cooking and baking expertise. Now as Director of Culinary at The Reserve, he’s putting that knowledge to work every day.

Creativity is what sparks Ben. “From designing menus to plating the food, there are unlimited ways to be creative in my position. I really enjoy being able to give residents the types of food they enjoy, as well as mentoring my team so they continue to grow and learn each day.”

Ben’s journey has included 12 years in the hospitality industry, from small mom-and-pop bakeries to some of LA’s top restaurants. “It’s been quite a journey,” says Ben. “I have had the opportunity to cook for Anthony Bourdain and Jennifer Lopez, as well as other celebrities.”

When it comes to free time, Ben describes himself as a big gamer, and also likes to sculpt and paint miniatures and figurines. Predator is his favorite movie (huge sci-fi fan). Perfect vacation? Running a half-marathon in the rolling hills of Scotland.
